Unlesson Five "Engineering doesn't need Sales"

“We are an engineering led organisation, and our product is too technical to need a sales force, we use the engineers.”

God help you. Either make your product less technical, or train your engineers in the rudiments of sales. They will take to it like ducks to petrol to paraphrase Neil Gaiman.

And if it is really true, how come you make money? Somebody, somewhere, is digging what you are doing. At least some of your engineers have an innate knack of persuading others to come with them. Do you want to turn that unconscious talent into a trained skill?
